The Amer Foundation condemns the harassment and intimidation of Kuwaiti journalist, Fajer Al-Saeed, by Hezbollah in Lebanon

New Hampshire - The Amer Foundation expresses its deep concern over the recent incident involving Fajer Al-Saeed, who was denied entry into Lebanon and sent back to Kuwait by Lebanese authorities. The journalist, who is known for her strong stance against Hezbollah, was targeted by the militant group, which has been accused of harassing and intimidating journalists and activists who criticize its activities.

According to reports, the decision to deny entry to the journalist was taken by the former director of the general security in Lebanon, Abbas Ibrahim, who is affiliated with Hezbollah. Despite Abbas no longer being in power, the hold he placed on the journalist remained in place, preventing her from entering the country and no other official was able to override the decision.

The Amer Foundation strongly condemns the actions of Hezbollah and its affiliates in targeting journalists and activists who exercise their right to freedom of expression. We call on the Lebanese authorities to investigate this incident and take measures to ensure that such violations of fundamental human rights do not occur in the future.

We also urge the international community to pay close attention to the situation in Lebanon and to support efforts to protect the rights of journalists and activists who speak out against oppression and injustice.

Zoya Fakhoury, co-founder of Amer Foundation, expressed her concerns over the matter:  "The denial of entry to journalist Fajer Al-Saeed, is a clear violation of her right to freedom of expression and an attack on press freedom. We stand in solidarity with her and all journalists and activists who face harassment and intimidation for speaking out against injustice."

The Amer Foundation is committed to promoting and defending human rights, including freedom of expression and the protection of journalists and activists. We will continue to monitor this situation closely and support efforts to ensure that the rights of all individuals are respected and protected.
